Mooseman Halfiron Report

All I can say that was Fun, Fun and more Fun. First creds go to my wife and to all wives that have to deal with Triathelete husbands, you know what I mean, putting up with the hours of training/races is tough. Second creds go to my coach, Pat, I can be a pain sometimes and to QT2, the fueling plan was right on, not a single hint of running out of juice, sprinted through the chute. Third creds go to my teammates that had to deal with me asking questions about well ... everything, including the fine art of peeing, great breakfast conversation :)

Swim - 33:01 - Not great, BUT dead smack in the middle of goal. Love that lake, crystal clear, some say it was cold, but didn't phase me 1 bit. Didn't draft as much as I wanted to, mainly because I quickly caught a lot of folks in the wave in front of me and I didn't know who to follow. On the turn back to the beach I finally hooked up with a guy and we pushed each other the whole way back; jockey back and forth.

T1 -2:10 - I wanted to wear socks, have to train this week and didn't want any blisters.

Bike - 2:42:02 - This was a little slower than I hoped, but I stuck to my wattage and having to learn how to pee on the bike took some time out there. You non- triathlete types, peeing on the bike, doesn't mean pulling off to the side of the road and finding a tree. It means urinating on yourself while riding a bike, it ain't easy to get the mojo flowing. But a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do. Plus the lower wattage I think really helped my run.

T2 - 1:11 - No complaints there , had to search for garmin, but no loss.

Run - 1:34:56 - My official pace was 7:15 which I'll take any day. I ran a 1:31 half in April and thought I was going to die, so running this pace after 56 miles on the bike was great for me. Plus I had more in me so I'll know next time. I actually picked up my pace throughout the run and ended close to 7:00. I could easily kept running, I just kept thinking to myself, this is so much FUN.

Total time 4:53:19, Goal 4:47-5:02 First half ironman is in the books. Looking forward to my Oly in July, gonna redline it :)

The race had a big QT2 team turn out, check out these impressive finishes by team QT2, lots of podium slots
